Dec 1sc. Leaving the last loop of each sc on hook, yo and draw through all 3 loops.

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used:-
100 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 1
50 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 2
OR
3.5oz of Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 1

1.75oz of Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 2
3.50mm, 4.00mm & 4.50mm Clover crochet hooks
3 small buttons

GAUGE – 1.25 groups and 3 dc rows measures approx 1 inch

Pretty Crochet Dress

Start with Bodice (Back)
# Using 3.50mm hook and color 1, ch49, (WS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (46dc + ch3)

Row 2 – ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, (see abbrev) 1dc in next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and 3tch, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Row 3 (Shape Armholes) – sl st over first 4st’s, ch3, 1dc in next dc, bpdc around next dc, (see abbrev) 1dc in each of next 2dc * ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc  * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, dc and 3tch, turn leaving ch space, dc and tch un-worked. #

Divide for back opening & continue to shape armhole

Row 7 – ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, dc and 3tch, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Row 8 – ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, dc and 3tch, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Rows 7 & 8 once, work Row 7. Fasten off. (11 rows worked in all)

Return to remaining un-worked stitches at opening, skip first fpdc at center, rejoin yarn to next dc with sl st, ch3, work 1dc in next dc, * ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, 4dc and 3tch, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next dc, turn leaving tch un-worked.

Shape Neck

Row 9 – sl st over first 3dc, ch3, 1dc in next dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Row 10 – ch3, 1dc in next dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, turn leaving tch un-worked.

Row 11 – ch4, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Fasten off. (11 rows in all)

Second side of neck
With RS facing, return to remaining stitches, skip centre 9 stitches, rejoin yarn with a sl st to next dc, ch3, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Ninth Row – ch3, 1dc in next dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, turn leaving last dc and ch3 un-worked.

Tenth Row – sl st over first 2dc, ch4, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

11th Row – ch3, 1dc in next dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in next 2dc, bpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc in 3rd of ch4. Fasten off.

Sew up side and shoulder seams, turn through to right side.

Commence Skirt
With front of bodice and RS of work facing you, working along starting chain around back and front of bodice, rejoin color 1 under left armhole, using 3.50mm hook ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1ch, (1dc, ch1), 4 times in next ch, followed by 1dc in the same ch, (making 5dc and ch4 spaces all in the same ch), skip 1ch, 1sc in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, skip last 2ch, join with sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (23, open shell groups)

1st Pattern Row – ch4 (ch4 counts as 1dc, ch1), 1dc in base of ch4, ch1, * skip next dc, ch1 space and dc, work 1sc in next ch space, ch3, skip 1dc, 1sc in next ch space, ch1, skip 1dc, ch1, 1dc, work (1dc, ch1), 3 times in next sc, (making 3dc & 3, ch1 spaces altogether) * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc, ch1 in last sc, sl st to 3rd of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn.

2nd Pattern Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, skip ch1, 1dc and ch1, work * (1dc, ch1), 4 times, plus 1dc all in next ch3 space, skip ch1, 1dc and ch1, work 1sc in next dc, skip ch1, 1dc and ch1, * rpt from * to * to last ch3 space, work (1dc, ch1) 4 times, 1dc all in ch3 space, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows once more. Fasten off.

With 4.00mm hook join in color 2, work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows six times more. Fasten off.

With 4.50mm hook join in color 1, work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows once more, then 1st Pattern Row once. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * (1dc, ch1), 6 times, 1dc all in next ch3 space, skip ch1, 1dc, ch1, work 1sc in next dc, skip ch1, 1dc, ch1, * rpt from * to * to end,  sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2
With 3.50mm hook and color 1 ch45, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (42dc + ch3)

R2 – ch3, 1dc in next 2dc, * ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in next 2dc, fpdc around next dc, 1dc in next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc and tch, ch1, skip 1dc, 1dc in each of last 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Shape Top –  sl st over first 3st’s, ch4, skip ch1 space, continue with bpdc in pattern as set to last ch1 space, 2dc, and ch3 to turn, ch1, skip ch1 space, 1dc in next dc, turn leaving dc and 3tch un-worked.

R4 – sl st over first 3st’s, ch3, 1dc in next dc, fpdc around next dc, continue with fpdc in pattern as set to last ch4, turn leaving ch4 un-worked. Turn.

R5 – sl st over first 3st’s, continue with bpdc in pattern as set until last 2 stitches, turn leaving last 2 stitches un-worked.

Rpt R5 3 more times, working in pattern as set (fpdc, bpdc and fpdc) until 8 rows will have been worked from beginning and you will have 2 complete blocks of 5dc left.

Continue with bpdc in pattern as set for 1 row without shaping. Fasten off. (9 rows in all)

Cuff
With RS facing and 3.50mm hook, join color 2 to top of ch3 on cast on edge with a sl st, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each ch, to end. Turn. (43sc)

Next Row – (Dec Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next sc * dec 1sc, (see abbrev) over next 2sc, 1sc in next 2sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (33sc)

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.

Join sleeve seams together, sew sleeves in position.

Button/Buttonhole Bands
With 3.50mm hook, RS facing and color 1, join yarn to base of back opening, work 2sc in each row end up first back edge, 3sc in corner, work 40sc evenly across the top of the first back, around the neck and across the top of the second back, 3sc in corner, work 2sc in each row end down second back edge. Turn.

Next Row – (Buttonhole Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc ino each sc to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck to next corner, 1sc in corner * ch2 skip 1sc, 1sc in next 4sc, * rpt from * to * twice, 1sc in each of remaining sc. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc and ch space around both backs and front to end working 3sc in corners . Fasten off.

Tie
With color 2 ch176, 1sc in second ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Fasten off (175sc)

Finishing –  Weave in and trim any loose ends of yarn.  Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread tie under bodice and tie in a bow.
