For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used:-
100 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 1
50 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 2
3.50mm, 4.00mm & 4.50mm Clover crochet hooks
3 small buttons

TENSION – 1.25 groups and 3 tr rows measures approx 1 Inch

Start with Bodice (Back)
# Using 3.50mm hook and colour 1, make 49ch, (WS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (46tr + 3ch)

Row 2 – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into next 2tr, fptr around next tr, (see abbrev) 1tr into next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3tch, make 1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Row 3 (Shape Armholes) – ss over first 4st’s, 3ch, 1tr into next tr, bptr around next tr, (see abbrev) 1tr into each of next 2tr * 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next 2tr, bptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr  * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, tr and 3tch, turn leaving ch space, tr and tch

Divide for back opening & continue to shape armhole

Second side of neck
With RS facing, return to remaining stitches, miss centre 9 stitches, rejoin yarn with a ss to next tr, 3ch, fptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next 2tr, fptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Ninth Row – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next 2tr, bptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next 2tr, turn leaving last tr and 3ch un-worked.

Tenth Row – ss over first 2tr, 4ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next 2tr, fptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Sew up side and shoulder seams, turn through to right side.

Commence Skirt
With front of bodice and RS of work facing you, working along starting chain around back and front of bodice, rejoin colour 1 under left armhole, using 3.50mm hook make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1ch, (1tr, 1ch), 4 times into next ch, followed by 1tr into the same ch, (making 5tr and 4ch spaces all in the same ch), miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss last 2ch, join with ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (23, open shell groups)

1st Pattern Row – 4ch (4ch counts as 1tr, 1ch), 1tr into base of 4ch, 1ch,* miss next tr, 1ch space and tr, work 1dc in next ch space, 3ch, miss 1tr, 1dc into next ch space, 1ch, miss 1tr, 1ch, 1tr, work (1tr, 1ch), 3 times into next dc, (making 3tr & 3, 1ch spaces altogether) * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr, 1ch into last dc, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Turn.

2nd Pattern Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr and 1ch, work  * (1tr, 1ch), 4 times, plus 1tr all into next 3ch space, miss 1ch, 1tr and 1ch, work 1dc in next tr, miss 1ch, 1tr and 1ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch space, work (1tr, 1ch) 4 times, 1tr all into 3ch space, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows once more. Fasten off.

With 4.00mm hook Join in colour 2, work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows six times more. Fasten off.

With 4.50mm hook join in colour 1, work 1st and 2nd Pattern Rows once more, then 1st Pattern Row once. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * (1tr, 1ch), 6 times, 1tr all into next 3ch space, miss 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, work 1dc in next tr, miss 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, * rpt from * to * to end,  ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2
With 3.50mm hook and colour 1 make 45ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (42tr + 3ch)

R2 – 3ch, 1tr into next 2tr, * 1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into next 2tr, fptr around next tr, 1tr into next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr and tch, make 1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into each of last 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Shape Top
ss over first 3st’s, 4ch, miss 1ch space, continue with bptr in pattern as set to last 1ch space, 2tr, and 3ch to turn, work 1ch, miss 1ch space, 1tr into next tr, turn leaving tr and 3tch
un-worked.

R4 – ss over first 3st’s, 3ch, 1tr into next tr, fptr around next tr, continue with fptr in pattern as set to last 4ch, turn leaving 4ch un-worked. Turn.

R5 – ss over first 3st’s, continue with bptr in pattern as set until last 2 stitches, turn leaving last 2 stitches un-worked.

Rpt R5 3 more times, working in pattern as set (fptr, bptr and fptr) until 8 rows will have been worked from beginning and you will have 2 complete blocks of 5tr left.

Continue with bptr in pattern as set for 1 row without shaping. Fasten off. (9 rows in all)

Cuff
With RS facing and 3.50mm hook, join colour 2 to top of 3ch on cast on edge with a ss, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each ch, to end. Turn. (43dc)

Next Row – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next dc * dec 1dc, (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc into next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc into last sc. Turn. (33dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Join sleeve seams together, sew sleeves into position.

Button/Buttonhole Bands
With 3.50mm hook, RS facing and colour 1, join yarn to base of back opening, work 2dc into each row end up first back edge, 3dc into corner, work 40dc evenly across the top of the first back, around the neck and across the top of the second back, 3dc into corner, work 2dc into each row end down second back edge. Turn.

Next Row – (Buttonhole Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc ino each dc to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc around neck to next corner, 1dc into corner * 2ch miss 1dc, 1dc in next 4dc, * rpt from * to * twice, 1dc into each of remaining dc. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc and ch space around both backs and front to end working 3dc into corners . Fasten off.

Tie
With colour 2 make 176ch, 1dc in second ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Fasten off (175dc)

Finishing –  Weave in and trim any loose ends of yarn.  Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread tie under bodice and tie in a bow.
