100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Color 2
4.00mm Clover crochet hook
 3 small buttons
1 mtr of 6mm wide satin ribbon

TENSION – 5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Coat – Worked in one piece starting with yoke.  Using colour 1 make 56ch
Work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into next 6ch, (front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 18ch, (back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (front). Turn (61tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 1tr into next tr, ss into next tr, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 3tr into next tr, ss into next tr, rpt from * to * 5 more times, 3tr into the same tr as the ss just worked, ss into next tr, rpt from * to * 10 more times, 3tr into same tr as ss just worked, ss into next tr, rpt from * to * 5 more times, 3tr into same tr as ss just worked, ss into next tr, rpt from * to * 3 more times, 1tr into next tr, ss into top of 3ch. Turn.

Commence Skirt – (Divide for Armholes)
With RS facing join colour 2 to top of 3ch on beginning of last row, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch. Working into blo (see abbrev) of stitch for this row, * miss 1tr, 5tr in next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 31tr, (first sleeve), 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, rpt from * to * 10 more times, miss 31tr, (second sleeve), 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, rpt from * to * 3 more times, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, miss 2tr, 1dc into last tr. Turn. (21, 5tr groups)

Work through both loops of stitch until sleeves.

Pattern Row 1 – 3ch, * miss 2tr, vst (see abbrev) into next tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * work 5tr into vst, 1dc into tr, * rpt from * to * to last vst and 3ch, 5tr into vst, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until seven 5tr group rows have been worked in all from yoke or work measures approx 10.5 inches from shoulder. Turn.

Work Pattern Row 1 once. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 1 and work Pattern Row 2 once. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With RS facing, join colour 2 to blo of first tr on sleeve, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, working into blo of each stitch for this row, * miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr,  * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (this will create a small gap, which we will close in the finishing) Turn. (8, 5tr groups)

Turning and ss to first st at the end of each row, rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 as on skirt until five 5tr group rows have been worked from yoke or sleeve seam measures 4 inches. Fasten off. Turn.

Cuff – Join in colour 1 to first tr, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 2tr, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 1htr into next dc, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into last 2tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (26 stitches)

Next row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and htr to last 2dc miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (25dc)

Work 3 more rows in dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 row of picot edge (see abbrev). Fasten off.

With RS facing join colour 1 to loose loops on bottom of yoke, work 1 row of picot edge (see abbrev) across left front, sleeve, back, sleeve and right front keeping continuity of pattern work 2dc into the corners. Fasten off.

Button/Buttonhole Bands – With RS facing, join colour 1 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, work 37dc evenly up front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, 37dc evenly down second front edge. Turn.

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc up front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc around neck edge to next corner, 1dc into corner, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 7dc, * rpt from * to * once, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch spaces around fronts and neck of coat to end, working 3dc into corners. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread ribbon through first row on skirt and gather to make folds.

Bonnet – With colour 2, make 6ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, make 5ch, work 1tr, 2ch (8 times) into ring, ss to 3rd of 5ch on beginning of round.

Round 2 – 3ch, * 2tr into 2ch space, 1tr into tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space, 2tr into 2ch space, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (26tr + 3ch)

Round 3 – 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (52tr + 3ch)

Round 4 – Working into blo, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 4tr, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, 1dc into next tr, turn leaving 1tr un-worked. (13, 5tr groups)

Working through both loops follow Pattern Rows 1 & 2 same as for coat until five 5tr group rows have been worked.

Work pattern row 1 once. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 1 and work Pattern Row 2 once. Fasten off.

With RS facing, join colour 1 to loose loops on crown, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 2dc into next loop, 1dc into next loop, * rpt from * to * to last loop, 2dc into last loop, ss to first dc on beginning of round. (79dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 round of picot edge around crown, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off.

With RS facing, using colour 2 and working into row ends, start with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch and work 2 rows of dc evenly along neck edge. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through row ends (just above the 2 rows of dc on neck edge) and tie in a bow.
