For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used:-
70 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in color 1
100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Color 2
Or
2.5oz of Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 1

3.5oz of Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 2
4.00mm Clover crochet hook
3 small buttons
1 mtr of 6mm wide satin ribbon

GAUGE – 5dc and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Coat – Worked in one piece starting with yoke.  Using color 1 ch56
Work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next 6ch, (front), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch, (shoulder), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 18ch, (back), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch, (shoulder), 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch, (front). Turn (61dc + ch3)

2nd Row – ch1, sl st in base of ch1, * 1dc in next dc, sl st in next dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 3dc in next dc, sl st in next dc, rpt from * to * 5 more times, 3dc in the same dc as the sl st just worked, sl st in next dc, rpt from * to * 10 more times, 3dc in same dc as sl st just worked, sl st in next dc, rpt from * to * 5 more times, 3dc in same dc as sl st just worked, sl st in next dc, rpt from * to * 3 more times, 1dc in next dc, sl st in top of ch3. Turn.

Commence Skirt (Divide for Armholes) –
With RS facing join color 2 to top of ch3 on beginning of last row, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1. Working in blo (see abbrev) of stitch for this row, * skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, 1sc in next dc, skip 31dc, (first sleeve), 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, rpt from * to * 10 more times, skip 31dc, (second sleeve), 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, rpt from * to * 3 more times, skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 2dc, 1sc in last dc. Turn. (21, 5dc groups)

Work through both loops of stitch until sleeves.

Pattern Row 1 – ch3, * skip 2dc, vst (see abbrev) in next dc, skip 2dc, 1dc in sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * work 5dc in vst, 1sc in dc, * rpt from * to * to last vst and ch3, 5dc in vst, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until seven 5dc group rows have been worked in all from yoke or work measures approx 10.5 inches from shoulder. Turn.

Work Pattern Row 1 once. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in color 1 and work Pattern Row 2 once. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With RS facing, join color 2 to blo of first dc on sleeve, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, working in blo of each stitch for this row, * skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc,  * rpt from * to * to last dc, skip 1dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. (this will create a small gap, which we will close in the finishing) Turn. (8, 5dc groups)

Turning and sl st to first st at the end of each row, rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 as on skirt until five 5dc group rows have been worked from yoke or sleeve seam measures 4 inches. Fasten off. Turn.

Cuff – Join in color 1 to first dc, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next 2dc, * skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1hdc in next sc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in last 2dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (26 stitches)

Next row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and hdc to last 2sc skip 1sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (25sc)

Work 3 more rows in sc. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1 row of picot edge (see abbrev). Fasten off.

With RS facing join color 1 to loose loops on bottom of yoke, work 1 row of picot edge (see abbrev) across left front, sleeve, back, sleeve and right front keeping continuity of pattern work 2sc in the corners. Fasten off.

Button/Buttonhole Bands – With RS facing, join color 1 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, work 37sc evenly up front edge, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch around neck, 3sc in corner, 37sc evenly down second front edge. Turn.

Buttonhole Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc up front edge, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck edge to next corner, 1sc in corner, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of next 7sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1 row of 1sc in each sc and ch2 spaces around fronts and neck of coat to end, working 3sc in corners. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, thread ribbon through first row on skirt and gather to make folds.

Bonnet – With color 2, ch6, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch5, work 1dc, ch2 (8 times) in ring, sl st to 3rd of ch5 on beginning of round.

Round 2 – ch3, * 2dc in ch2 space, 1dc in dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, 2dc in ch2 space, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. (26dc + ch3)

Round 3 – ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. (52dc + ch3)

Round 4 – Working in blo, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc, skip 1dc, 5dc in next dc, 1sc in next dc, turn leaving 1dc un-worked. (13, 5dc groups)

Working through both loops follow Pattern Rows 1 & 2 same as for coat until five 5dc group rows have been worked.

Work Pattern row 1 once. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in color 1 and work Pattern Row 2 once. Fasten off.

With RS facing, join color 1 to loose loops on crown, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 2sc in next loop, 1sc in next loop, * rpt from * to * to last loop, 2sc in last loop, sl st to first sc on beginning of round. (79sc)

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1 round of picot edge around crown, sl st to first sc on beginning of round. Fasten off.

With RS facing, using color 2 and working in row ends, start with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1 and work 2 rows of sc evenly along neck edge. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through row ends (just above the 2 rows of sc on neck edge) and tie in a bow.
