Crochet Winter Set

Crochet winter set a free crochet pattern for a small child, made in a worsted weight #3 yarn on a 4.50mm crochet hook.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used:-
70 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in each of the colors 1 & 2
Or
2.46oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn in each of the colors 1 & 2
4.50mm Clover crochet hook

GAUGE – 5dc and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Scarf
– With color 1 ch176 loosely, work (1sc, 1dc) in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 1ch, (1sc, 1dc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, skip 1ch, 1sc in last ch. Turn. (87 groups)

Pattern Row – ch1, (1sc, 1dc) in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, (1sc, 1dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last dc and sc, skip 1dc, 1sc in sc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row in color sequence as follows:-

Once in color 1
Five times in color 2
Three times in color 1

Row 12 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and sc to end. Fasten off leaving length of yarn to gather end of scarf with. Fasten off.

Working 1sc in each ch, rpt Row 12 along starting ch edge, leave length yarn to gather end of scarf with. Fasten off.

Pom-Poms – Using color 2, make 2 medium pom-poms, I used the Clover pom-pom maker size 45.

Finishing – Using the loose length of yarns, thread through row ends on short sides of scarf and gather, weave in any spare loose ends and trim off.

Attach a pom-pom to each gathered edge.

Hat – Made in rounds without turning until the end of 13th Round.
With color 1, make magic circle, (see abbrev) (RS) ch3, work 12dc in ring, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (12dc + ch3)

2nd Round – (Inc Round) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (25dc + ch3)

3rd Round – (Inc Round) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc in last dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (38dc + ch3)

4th Round – (Inc Round) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1dc in each of last 2dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (51dc + ch3)

5th Round – (Inc Round) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, 1dc in each of last 3dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (64dc + ch3)

6th Round – (Inc Round) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1dc in each of next 10dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 9dc, 1dc in each of last 9dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off. (70dc + ch3)

Join in color 2.

7th Round – ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round.

8th to 13th Rounds – Rpt 7th Round. Fasten off. Turn. (You can add more rows here if you wish for a longer hat)

Brim – Working in BLO (see abbrev) join in color 1, ch1, (1sc, 1dc) in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, (1sc, 1dc) in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in last dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row – Working through both loops, ch1, (1sc, 1dc) in fist sc, * skip 1dc, (1sc, 1dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1sc in dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row 3 more times. Fasten off.

Pom-Pom – Using color 2, make 1 medium pom-pom, I used the Clover pom-pom maker size 45.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, fold brim onto front of hat, attach pom-pom securely to crown.

Fingerless GlovesMake 2 gloves the same. 

Starting with the ribbed cuff, using color 1 ch12, work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (11sc)

Next Row – Working in blo, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row until 26 rows have been worked in all.

Fold work in half so that the short sides of both ends are lined up, sl st through both of the short sides of work to make a round.

Turn your work on to the side so you are working in the row ends, ch1, work 1sc in each of next 26 row ends to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (26sc)

Join in color 2, working through both loops.

Second Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 2sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 11sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (28sc)

Third Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 4sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 11sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (30sc)

Fourth Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 6sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 11sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (32sc)

Fifth Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 8sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 11sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (34sc)

Sixth Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 10sc, 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next 11sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (36sc)

Seventh Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 12sc, skip next 10sc, (thumb) 1sc in each of next 13sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row (26sc)

Eighth Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Eighth Row three more times. Fasten off.

Join in color 1 and rpt Eighth Row twice. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off. Turn through to right side.
